Botanical.
Alongside my documentary work, I have a quieter, more personal practice photographing the wild flowers and plants I encounter in the hedgerows and landscapes of Devon and Cornwall.
What began as an interest in the details of the natural world has developed into a collection of fine-art photographs that approach botanical subjects more like paintings than traditional botanical studies. I’m drawn to the way light, colour, texture and composition can transform something familiar into something unexpected.
Many of the plants I photograph are gathered from close to home and photographed in my small garden studio, where I can spend time looking closely at their forms and character. The work is an opportunity to slow down and pay attention to the things that can so easily be overlooked.
The collection is produced as limited-edition fine-art prints, with printing and framing handmade locally in Axminster, Devon. A selection of the work is also available as cards and notebooks.
The botanical series has been exhibited at the Town Mill in Lyme Regis and The Other Art Fair in London, with individual works also recognised through the Falmouth University Press Awards 2026 and the 2024 Monochrome Awards.
